The leading names of Turkey and the world in the field of environmentalist applications; meeting up in the first Green Institutions Conference organized by Odak Consultancy in Istanbul; discussed innovations, developments, applications and sustainability for the future of green institutions.

 

ISTANBUL (IHA) - The leading names of Turkey and the world in the field of environmentalist applications; meeting up in the first Green Institutions Conference organized by Odak Consultancy in Istanbul; discussed innovations, developments, applications and sustainability for the future of green institutions.

The 1st Green Institutions Conference, organized in an attempt to raise sustainability and environmental awareness in Turkey by Odak Consultancy, took place with a broad participation in Swissotel Istanbul. Within the scope of conference, administrators of the institutions such as hotels, schools, hospitals, shopping centers, residences; as well as suppliers offering service and product to these institutions, technical specialists, public institutions and NGOs (Non-governmental organizations) came together and shared their The speakers, among whom there were the leading names in environment and sustainability areas; such as Akın Ongor, Chairman of WWF Turkey (World-wide Fund for Nature), Dr. Katalin Zaim – UNDP Environment&Sustainable Development Programme Manager of Turkey, Dr. Mustafa Hatipoglu – chairman of (UNIDO-ITCHET) International Center for Energy Technologies; emphasized that green building, transportation, renewable energy, clean water infrastructure and sustainable agricultural sectors are all included in the sectors that will come to the forefront.

The speakers indicated the fact that Turkey who is ranked at number 31 in carbon emission may rise to the 23rd in the next 3-5 years and underlined that green buildings that increase productivity in terms of energy will create 2,5-3 million new employment per annum in the USA and Europe.

In the conference; in which Assistant Prof. Dr. Fatoş Karahasan - one of the academic members of Bilgi University served as the moderator; Katalin Zaim-UNDP Environment&Sustainable Development Programme Manager of Turkey gave information on the subjects of energy efficiency in institutions and UNDP Turkey Cooperation. Dorien Van der Weele, Green Building Development Director of Philips, which is one of the main sponsors of the conference, explained in his speech that green buildings provide 25% energy saving by efficient energy use. He also drew attention to the fact that number of the buildings in which studies and applications directed to energy efficiency have been performed, is increasing every passing day in the world.

In the conference; in which Schneider Electric European Business Development Manager Francois Carle shared the latest developments in the next generation hotel technologies and energy management, ways to increase consumer satisfaction during the application of these developments and application samples; Dr. Mustafa Hatipoglu - chairman of International Center for Energy Technologies (UNIDO-ITCHET), having handled the energy need, talked about using hydrogen as fuel, using hydrogen fuel cells and UNIDO’s (Industrial Development Organization) mission directed to this application. And executive board member of LykiaGroup, Zeynep Silahtaroglu, in her speech titled as “Eco-friendly Sustainable Institutions”, explained the environmentalist principles based on by LykiaGroup for sustainable institutions and the applications they performed

One of the most attractive sessions was the panel on Green Building Applications. In this panel directed by Dr. Duygu Erten; Architect Emre Arolat, Erdinç Varlıbaş-CEO of Varyap, Patrick van Dooyevert-general manager of Redevco and Sukru Ergun –CEO of Jotun Group explained the advantages of compatible work of investors, contractors, architects and suppliers in Building Construction and the importance of managing the processes efficiently. Besides; the question what the acquisitions are despite the 1-10 percent of increase in cost brought by green building production was shared with the participants.

In this conference in which we took part as a participant representing ASMAZ Timber Frame Buildings, our company shared our studies aimed at creating green institutions, ideas and projects; with other participants. In the same time, our chairman exchanged information with Hırant KALATAS about our works on green institutions and ecological buildings, our ideas and projects.
